An 18-year-old Israeli activist was arrested and sentenced to 30 days in prison after he refused to enlist in the army. Tal Mitnick denounced Israel’s war in Gaza and refused to sign for mandatory conscription. In Israel, it’s mandatory for men to serve 32 months in the IDF when they turn 18. For women, it’s 24 months. “Slaughter can’t solve slaughter,” Mitnick said in a video just moments before he walked into a military base to announce his decision, which led to his arrest.
