India has abstained from the UN General Assembly on a resolution that called for an immediate humanitarian truce in Gaza amid the Israel-Hamas conflict. A total of 120 countries voted in favour of the resolution; 14 countries voted against it, including Israel and the United States, while 45 others abstained, including India. The Jordanian-drafted resolution did not make any mention of the militant group Hamas, with the US and Israel expressing outrage, calling it an “omission of evil”.
