Russia has reportedly revived a Soviet-era spy-hunting unit – SMERSH – founded by Joseph Stalin. The dreaded spy-killers have been deployed in Ukrainian territories illegally occupied by Russia in the war, namely Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia.
