Russian President Vladimir Putin’s close ally, Mikhail Filiponenko, was assassinated in Luhansk, in eastern Ukraine. Filiponenko was killed in a car bomb blast. His son told a Luhansk-based news agency that Filiponenko’s car was blown up after an explosive detonated. Ukraine has claimed responsibility for the car bomb attack.
