Even as both Israel and Hamas maintain hardline stances in public, efforts appear to be underway to negotiate a fresh ceasefire and hostage-release deal. Egyptian officials revealed to news agency Reuters what has been happening in the discussions so far. Hamas is making three main demands, including unilaterally deciding list of hostages to be released, withdrawal of Israeli troops behind pre-determined lines, and a full ceasefire.
